STealthwerx now offering TRS Performance Custom Software
What a way to end 2023, we are now finally able to offer bespoke and custom calibrations for many makes and models, and of course our brand favourite, Ford! Model coverage includes BMW, VAG Group, Mercedes, MINI and many more! Further investment in equipment allows full flash and bench options, as well as indepth datalogging capability, meaning we can identify any potential issues and maximise performance and driveability on every car, this is an area that has always been our forte, but up until now, we were restricted on specific changes that is so often needed on cars that are...
Can you really guess BHP from peak MAF readings?
Can you GUESS BHP from peak MAF G/S? Answer = Sort of yes and sort of no Armed at my disposal is over 350 datalogs i've carried out over the past 3 years, which disproves that theory. The first thing to know, is that yes, MAF will go up when there is a power increase, but this is dependant on load/boost, temperatures, air density/humidity and even your induction kit. Got an ITG? It has slightly different scaling between V1 and V2, so your peak MAF will also be different (higher in the case of V2) Let's go back to the...
Reading your real charge temperatures..
There seems to be much confusion over the difference between what 'charge temperatures' are versus 'inlet temperatures' mean and the simplest explaination is that when you log these PIDs on Forscan, ACTC relates to temperatures seen at the MAF sensor, and IATC are temperatures seen post intercooler in the TIP sensor located in the coldside pipe.Don't believe this? It's easy to prove, with attached screenshots of datalogs from 2 cars. One of these is a VUDU 1+ car using a stock airbox and stock intercooler, and the other is my own VT330R car running an Airtec open cone induction with...
Breathe easy...
An induction kit is often the first piece of aftermarket hardware on the list when modifying your car - Open designs add more noise, remove some of the restrictions associated with an OEM airbox, and some even claim to add more power and torque. Aesthetics is also another reason why owners choose certain induction kits. But its also very easy to buy what is most popular, or the cheapest, and find you are compromising performance in a number of ways, and this is even more crucial with a MAF based set up, which we will explain in a bit more...
Heat management is crucial..
Keiron has been messaging me for months to get his car to me and 'work my magic'.He purchased all his bits from elsewhere - not a direct customer, and it wasnt performing as it should do.The install wasn't perfect. Some signs of blowing from the tubular manifold, possibly the gasket or its started to crack, without removing bits, we won't know, but he has been advised to address this. This car has had an AEM water/meth system fitted, and dyno testing elsewhere on the current setup gave him a 30bhp gain - alarm bells started ringing! So after travelling from Cardiff, yes,...
