Cambelt Replacement

Currently we only offer cambelt replacement on the 1.6 Ecoboost engine.

This is not a difficult job for a trained technician, but it must be carried out correctly, and for those without sufficient experience on this platform, can easily cause problems.

The OE cambelt replacement schedule is 125k or 10 years, however we recommend this is shortened, more so on age, where cracking on the belt can be more prevalent, based on cars we have had come through the workshop.

 

Our cambelt replacement uses genuine Ford parts.

 

 

Parts replaced include-

Cambelt

Tensioner

Water Pump and bolts with OE gasket

Crank pulley bolt

Auxiliary belt

Coolant change

A pre belt change diagnostic is always carried out first. After replacement, correlations are reset to suit the new components and for the ECU to relearn the correct reference points for optimal performance, and a road test is also carried out.

The cost for the above process is £525 inc VAT, and the time allowed is between 3-4 hours.

Please note, in some cases the crank pulley/crank sprocket can become seized onto the crank nose, we have a number of methods for removing these if this happens, the worse case scenario is removal using a puller. If this is used, there is a risk of damage to the crank pulley itself, meaning it may have to be replaced at extra cost. We do all we can to avoid this and will advise if there is an issue during the process.

We take a clinical approach to belt replacement, as we have seen far too many cars some through with issues such as slipped timing (can be causes by an aftermarket crank pulley belt or poor quality tensioner)
